Heartbeat Philanthropic A Cappella is made up of University of Michigan undergraduate students in all years across many different majors!

Sopranos
Sydney Gong
Sydney is in the class of 2025, with plans to major in Psychology and minor in music. In her free time, Sydney loves to ski, swim, explore new restaurants and coffee shops, and hang out with her friends! Before attending Michigan, she sang in choir for 11 years at home in the Bay Area, California. Sydney joined Heartbeat because she has a huge passion for music, and loved the friendly, supportive, family-like energy Heartbeat had to offer! And she is so excited to be returning to Heartbeat this semester!
Edith Pendell
Edith is in the class of 2027, studying political science. Outside of Heartbeat, she loves going to museums, visiting used bookstores, running, and theater. Edith can't wait to perform with the group at the University Hospital, as well as the various philanthropic performances ahead in the semester!
Yinghui He
Gracie (Yinghui) is in the class of 2024, studying computer science and a minor in math. She's a big fan of bubble tea and K-pop music. In fact, she practices K-pop dancing every week. She looks forward to singing and having fun with a group of kind people with the same goal. She's a transfer student from Shanghai, China.
Asha Gudipaty
Asha is in the class of 2027 and will be studying either political science or public policy. She volunteered at a museum during high school, and in her free time, enjoys songwriting, reading, golfing, and eating at new places.
Altos
Brooke Star
Brooke is in the class of 2024, majoring in Nursing. In her free time she loves singing, thrifting, working out, and spending time with friends. Beyond Heartbeat she also enjoys singing in the women's glee club (because you can never have enough singing in your life). She is excited to merge her musical talents with her love of philanthropy in Heartbeat!
Alydia Jura
Alydia is in the class of 2025, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. In her free time, she loves playing guitar, ukulele, piano, and drums. She also enjoys knitting, crocheting, painting, and taking care of her many plant babies. She is extremely excited for her upcoming performances with Heartbeat!
Adair Nolan
Adair is in the class of 2025, majoring in Chemical Engineering at Michigan. She is also a fourth-generation wolverine! She joined Heartbeat to make new friends and sing together for a good cause. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, playing soccer, and supporting as many Michigan athletics teams as possible!
Malinda Brunk
Malinda is in the class of 2026, majoring in public policy. When she is not at rehearsal she loves going out, traveling, online shopping, and playing volleyball. She can't wait to sing with everyone at the University Hospital this semester!
Tenors
Alex Wang
Alex is in the class of 2025, studying Political Science. He is originally from Taipei, Taiwan, and he likes listening to Chinese playlists. He tells people he doesn't like seafood, even though that is not true, just so that he can get out of trying new things when eating with friends and family.
Ethan List
Ethan is in the class of 2024, studying Economics and German. When he's not singing his heart out with his friends, he loves solving puzzle games like Sudoku and Picross. Ethan chose Heartbeat because he fell in love with the philanthropic goals of the group. He's excited to give back to the community and have fun while doing so.
Liam Bressler
Liam is in the class of 2027 studying chemical engineering. He loves board games, music, and video games. Additionally, he loves showing off his ever-changing rotation of graphic tees at rehearsals. He is ecstatic to show off his talents while volunteering with Heartbeat at the hospital this year!
Basses
Jake Downey
Jake is in the class of 2025 at the University of Michigan majoring in Ecology, Evolution, & Biodiversity and minoring in Applied Statistics and Paleontology. You can find him at the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History working as a docent and performing research within the School of Paleontology. He loves Heartbeat a cappella's commitment to supporting charity through the arts!
Mateo González
Mateo is in the class of 2026 at Michigan and intends to major in Sociology, with a sub-major in Law, Justice, and Social Change. In the future, he hopes to attend law school and work in civil litigation. Mateo enjoys biking, going to the gym, playing guitar, reading political theory, and watching the Premier League. He joined Heartbeat because he wanted to continue learning music in college and loves the group's mission of uplifting the community through philanthropic performance.
Avery Jura
Avery is in the class of 2027 and is still weighing his options before choosing a major. Outside of Heartbeat, he loves creating street art, participating in extreme sports, and making friends. He is excited to spread love and express his creativity in on- and off-campus performances in the coming year!
David Ntsiful
David is in the class of 2026, studying biomolecular science. When he isn't at rehearsal, David loves to sing and play soccer. He cannot wait to volunteer and sing with friends at the hospital, as well as raise money for great causes this year!
Austin Jordan
Austin is in the class of 2024, studying Computer Science through the School of Engineering. He's also a member of the University's wrestling team. Austin enjoys playing video games, watching movies, and eating food.
